Okay, we know the Aztecs (or was it the Olmecs?) discovered chocolate about 4,000 years ago but as a healthy, nutritious and delicious snack we literally discovered it in 2012.
And pretty soon we couldn’t get enough. Of course we don’t mean just any chocolate. We mean the sort of chocolate your mother would probably hate. Dark, seriously dark, low in sugar, high in cacao….real, honest-to-God chocolate. 70 per cent cacao was our early favourite but we soon pushed up.... to 80, 90 even 95 per cent. West African, Guatemalan, Grenadian we loved them all. And the chocolate loved us back.
High in good fats, low in sugar, low carb and literally loaded with anti-oxidants; dark chocolate was our go to food for that perfect pick-me-up, early morning starts, pre-workout or in fact at almost anytime of day.
And then one day (sweating in the sauna) it hit us! Why couldn't we take our favourite chocolate, melt it down, mix in our key training supplements and create the ultimate 'performance' chocolate bar.
And that’s exactly what we did. Dark chocolate melted in the microwave, a spoonful of Creatine, a dash of BCAA, a dose of Caffeine and finally a pinch of Himalayan Salt. We let it set.
Of course nothing as good as Peak is that easy to create. Our first attempts were pretty awful. Gritty, grainy, weird tasting…awful. There were doubters of course. We didn't listen. We rarely do.
But slowly, one baby step at a time, we improved it, and improved it, until finally when we thought we had the right recipe and an edible product we talked to a real chocolatier who ground and tempered and moulded our little baby into something truly fantastic. Fucking fantastic, actually. We knew we had something special. The world's first high-performance chocolate bar.
And so, Peak Chocolate was born.
